Reprinting Sentences 1

We have been out of stock of the See and Learn Sentences 1 kit for some weeks now and we are receiving many requests for an expected date when it will be available again.

See and Learn Sentences 1 is the largest See and Learn kit, teaching 174 words and sight words, 277 sentences, with 25 books, and hundreds of printed picture cards and sight word cards. Producing the kits requires a significant investment. See and Learn Sentences 1 is also the most expensive See and Learn kit.

We have been considering ways we can reduce the size (and cost) of the kit by making some components optional. For example, some children may not need to match and select pictures to learn new vocabulary – they will be able to learn the meanings of new words from reading the books alone. At the same time, other children will continue to need the additional support of picture matching and selecting activities. We have therefore been looking offering options for parts – together with guidance.

We have also been designing future vocabulary, grammar and literacy teaching steps (See and Learn Sentence 2, 3 and beyond). As children progress beyond a core early vocabulary, we want to offer more choice in the vocabulary taught, better suited to individual children at different stages of development (and ages). To do this, we need to align grammar teaching goals with multiple vocabulary sets and offer choices of corresponding sets of books.

As children continue to develop, rates of progress and so levels of achievement diverge. We want to be able to offer more personalised options for teaching grammar and literacy skills with age-appropriate vocabulary and books.

At the same time, we are building progress tracking and personalised advice services that will eventually complement the See and Learn kits and apps. As these become available, we expect to evolve how we provide guidance for working with the See and Learn resources.

Taking all these considerations into account, we have decided not to reprint See and Learn Sentences 1 in its current form until we have finalised our plans for Sentences 2 and 3 and beyond. At this time, we are not able to commit the sizeable investment necessary for a new print run when we may want to make changes in 6-12 months’ time.

We are actively working on these new services and our plans for future See and Learn Sentences kits, and hope to finalise our decision in the first few months of 2025.

We appreciate this delay will be disappointing for clients wishing to purchase printed See and Learn Sentences 1 kits. However, the iPad edition remains available and includes all of the same books, together with the picture card and sight word activities.
